❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Can customers change the donation amount?

Yes! Customers can click the + button to increase their donation beyond the calculated round-up amount. The βˆ’ button allows them to decrease it, but not below the minimum round-up amount.

What happens if customer's cart total changes after adding donation?

The donation amount remains fixed once added to cart. If the cart total changes significantly, customers should remove the old donation and add a new one with the updated round-up amount.

How many causes can I add?

There's no strict limit, but we recommend 3-7 causes for the best user experience. Too many choices can be overwhelming for customers.

Fee Recovery - Complete Guide

Allow donors to cover the transaction fee associated with their donation, ensuring 100% of their intended amount goes directly to the cause.

πŸ“‹ Overview

The Fee Recovery feature gives donors the option to add an extra charge to cover the transaction processing fees of their donation. When checked, the widget calculates the exact fee and displays it to the user.

Example: Donor contributes $300 β†’ Transaction fee is calculated as $1.80 β†’ Cart contains the $300 donation + a $1.80 fee cover product β†’ Total checkout is $301.80.

  • Plan Requirement: Available for Bronze, Silver, and Gold plan subscribers.
  • Calculated in Real-Time: The transaction fee amount updates automatically based on the donor's selected contribution.
  • Flexible Customization: Customize the checkbox text and color to match your store's branding.
  • Transparent Cart Items: The fee is added as a separate line item ("Cover Transaction Fee") for clear accounting.

βœ… Prerequisites

  • Plan: Bronze Plan, Silver Plan, or Gold Plan.

πŸš€ Merchant Setup Guide

Step 1: Open the Donation Widget settings in your Theme Editor or App Dashboard.

Scroll down to the Fee Recovery Settings section.

Fee Recovery Dashboard Settings

Step 2: Enable Fee Recovery & Customize Text

Toggle on Enable Fee Recovery. In the Fee Recovery Checkbox Text field, customize the text that will be displayed to the customer. Make sure to use the {fee_amount} placeholder where you want the calculated fee amount to appear.

Step 3: Select Checkbox Color

Choose a checkbox color that aligns with your store's branding. This color is applied to the checkbox when the donor checks it. Click Save.

πŸ‘₯ Customer Experience

1. Interactive Opt-In Box

On your store's product/donation page, the widget displays the custom checkbox. When a donor enters an amount (e.g. $300), the checkbox dynamic text displays the exact computed transaction fee (e.g., $1.80).

Customer Donation Widget with Fee Recovery Checkbox

2. Cart Line Items

When the donor proceeds, the cart correctly lists two items: the main donation product (e.g., Arnold - $300.00) and the transaction fee cover item (e.g., Cover Transaction Fee - $1.80). This ensures complete clarity and transparency for the customer's purchase.

Supported Frequencies: Donors can choose to contribute Once (one-time), Every Month, Every 3 Months, or Every Year.

  • Boost Donor Lifetime Value: Convert single-time donors into recurring subscribers.
  • Seamless Subscription Portal: Integrates with standard checkout portals, allowing buyers to manage their subscription status easily.
  • Flexible Frequency Options: Turn recurring options on/off in the app settings.

Step 2: Add 'Manage Subscription' to Checkout Pages

To let customers manage their subscription frequencies or cancel subscriptions, add the Manage Subscription block inside Shopify Checkout Customizer.

  1. Go to Shopify Admin β†’ Settings β†’ Checkout.
  2. Click Customize on your active checkout theme.
  3. Open the top template selector and navigate to the Thank You page (and later the Order Status page).
  4. In the left sidebar, click Add block.
  5. Under Donate-Me, select Manage Subscription.

Step 3: Preview Thank You Page Settings

Cart UI Cleaner - Setup Guide

Clean up unnecessary labels in your Shopify cart and create a smooth, distraction-free checkout experience for your customers.

πŸ“‹ Overview

By default, Shopify theme cart templates display variant attributes (such as Title: 300 or Default Title) under the cart items. For donation products that dynamically generate amount-based variants, these technical titles look cluttered and degrade the user experience.

Key Benefits:

  • Hides Variant Labels: Automatically removes messy variant labels (e.g., Title: 300).
  • Removes Default Titles: Hides generic Default Title text.
  • Cleaner Layout: Restores a sleek and clean design to your Shopify cart.
  • Improves Conversion Rate: Reduces visual clutter at the final decision-making step of checkout.

πŸš€ Setup & Activation Steps

The Cart UI Cleaner is built as a Shopify App Embed, meaning it runs safely on your storefront without modifying any theme template files.

1. Open the Shopify Theme Editor

Go to your Shopify Admin β†’ Online Store β†’ Themes β†’ Click Customize on your active theme.

2. Open App Embeds Panel

Click the App Embeds tab on the left sidebar menu (represented by a puzzle-piece or layers icon).

3. Activate Cart UI Cleaner

Locate Cart UI Cleaner under Donate-Me, toggle the switch to ON (Active), and click Save in the top-right corner.

πŸ”„ Before vs. After Activation
